This class, Plant Wisdom, is part two of a two part series titled Nourish Your Nervous System.

General Overview

With the quickening pace of technology, travel  and the overall busy-ness of our modern day lives it is easy to let self care slide.  Anxiety, insomnia, ungroundedness, exhaustion and fatigue can all be symptoms that we are not properly nourishing our nervous systems.  In Ayurveda the nervous system is related to the Vata Dosha: the air and space elements.  The more we understand the qualities of this dosha and the ways it manifests in the modern world, the easier we can find simple solutions to maintain the health of this delicate system.  In this two part series we will use the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to learn practical self care tools to take care of our nervous systems in our modern lives.  The hope is that participants will leave the classes  feeling relaxed and nourished and with some simple tools to use at home.

Class 2 ~ Plant Wisdom

Herbs are powerful allies and healers when dealing with the nervous system.  With correct use they can help create more peace, tranquility and joy.  They can soothe frayed nerves and nourish a depleted system.  They are teachers that help our bodies find a balanced state so that we can then achieve the same state on our own through lifestyle changes.  In the realm of nervous system herbs, there are many different categories that help with different challenges.  In this class we will learn about some of the different categories of nervous system herbs, going into detail and getting to know a handful of herbs more personally and experientially.  We will look at both Ayurvedic and Western herbs using our senses and experiencing the effects of the herbs in our bodies to really  integrate and get to know them.  You will also come away with some simple tea and Ayurvedic milk recipes to experiment more with these herbs at home.
